Spring Intern, Public Relations

Position Type: Internship
Session: Spring 2020 (February 3- April 24, 2020)

Position Summary:
SiriusXM + Pandora interns don't make coffee. They're on-air, on projects and making valuable contributions to SiriusXM + Pandora. Join our internship program and learn about the world of audio entertainment and get hands-on experience in your field of study.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support all members of the PR/communications staff.
  • Learn to develop and implement publicity strategies for SiriusXM's programming and products.
  • Learn to create various press materials including writing press releases and media alerts.
  • Assist in creating and distributing press materials.
  • Monitor programming for possible press opportunities.
  • Support staff members as they fulfill daily media inquiries.
  • Update and organize SiriusXM + Pandora's media contacts and distribution lists.
  • Research outlets for new PR opportunities.
  • Track SiriusXM's + Pandora mentions in various press outlets.
  • Assemble press clip packs to show the reach of SiriusXM + Pandora's publicity efforts.
  • Learn to plan and manage press events.
  • Work closely with SiriusXM talent relations when interacting with guests and talent.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be enrolled in a college, university or trade school to qualify. Students who have completed at least two years of college are preferred.
  • Current or previous enrollment in communications or public relations classes preferred.
  • Prior internship or working experience in PR preferred.
Requirements and General Skills:
  • Good project management and planning skills.
  • Good personnel management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Familiar with SiriusXM + Pandora programming.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
