DESCRIPTION
The New Jersey Department of Transportation ( NJDOT) is seeking candidates for the position of Investigator Trainee within the Office of Inspector General, Office of Internal Investigation (IIU). Investigator Trainees are assigned a 35 - hour work week. Current starting salary is $45,731 and after six months is $47,810. As a NJ State Department, NJDOT offers a comprehensive benefits package including Health Care (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision care), Pension, Deferred Compensation, 12 paid holidays, and Benefit Leave (12 vacation days, 15 sick days, and 3 administrative days). Standard workweek is Monday through Friday.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) provides independent and objective audits, investigations and reports concerning NJDOT programs and operations. The OIG consists of the Office of Internal Audit, the Internal Investigation Unit (IIU), the Records Compliance Unit (OPRA; Records Management; Tort Litigation support); and the Ethics/Special Projects Unit. IIU investigates all
major offenses occurring within or affecting NJDOT, referring cases to Federal, State, and other appropriate investigative and law enforcement agencies when appropriate.

Position Description
Investigates all major offenses occurring within or affecting the NJDOT such as bribery, forgery, falsification, and all major acts of misconduct or criminal behavior committed by employees of NJDOT. Investigates all major matters pertaining to fraud against NJDOT and/or criminal irregularities in connection with the procurement and/or disposition of NJDOT property, and activities related thereto. Conducts and analyzes surveys and prepares studies and reports on major matters related to Department operations. Maintains liaison with Federal, State, and other appropriate investigative and law enforcement agencies concerning matters of mutual interest.
The work hours are 8:30 - 4:30.

REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Criminology is preferred.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States according to the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. NJDOT does not provide sponsorship or accept student OPT/CPT program, F1 or H1B work authorization visas.
Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14 - 7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act."
